The client had recently moved to the property and wanted the garden redesigned to provide areas for seating at different times of the day, space for utilities and vegetable growing with planting to soften the boundaries, encourage wildlife and provide year round interest.
Existing garden with no rear boundary
Clear boundaries will be softened over time with trees and climbers
Existing garden lacked detail and focus
Garden now has interest with levels and different surfaces
Existing garden had little interest or structure
Trees and shrubs will soften the hard landscaping structures
There was no space for utilities or veg growing
A utility area and raised veg bed have been incorporated
The garden had little security with an open side entrance
A new wall / fence has been included to provide security
The planting will mature to soften the boundaries and hard landscaping structures while providing colour and scent, and to break the view of the garden from the house so not all is visable at first glance, but while still allowing sufficient light to the house. Seating areas will become more enclosed and private, and wildlife is encouraged with trees and a small pond feature.
