My client's front garden is on a busy main road, so they asked for some easy maintenance planting which would provide some screening from the passing traffic.
Early Spring in year 3 after planting
This front garden overlooks a busy road, so the brief was to create a low maintenance border while providing some screening from the traffic, and to consider the view from both the house and road. I used a mixture of trees and mature shrubs to give height and structure, with smaller shrubs and perennials to give year-round colour.
Plants mature to fill out the border
A screen is now forming between the house and road
My clients wanted to use up excess stone from building work, so I created a small rockery at the back of the main border. I used small shrubs and perennials and underplanted with spring bulbs.
First summer after planting
Spring in year 3 after planting
This client had had a new border created and wanted some planting to provide year-round interest, so I used a mixture of shrubs, a flowering tree, herbaceous perennials and some Spring bulbs for continuous colour and scent.
